The predecessor, without WiFi support, is not supported.In 2022, the Raspberry Pi Pico W succeeds the RP2040 launched at the beginning of 2021 adding WiFi and Bluetooth. Once again, this device sets new standards in microcontroller design in terms of price and features. There is a separate chip for the radio functionality and the RP2040's cores don't have to take care of that, like on the ESP series. Therefore an RP Pico W is just as well suited for an WiFi basic as the ESP8266 used to be or still is. For this reason, the BASIC originally created for the ESP has been ported to the RP2040 to provide the many advantages of this type of programming for this chip as well.In addition to the very high compatibility to the original, this port enables the use of some special features of an RP2040 that has WiFi, such as the different ADC, the PIO and the DMA.
